Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
The Harvard baseball team plays its second Eastern intercollegiate game today at Princeton against a so far undistinguished Tiger squad, a winner in only one of its first seven games.
Princeton boasts two good hitters -- second baseman Doug James has a .381 average through the team's first seven games while left fielder and cleanup hitter Lynn Moore has .348 credentials.
But the Tiger pitching -- like Harvard's--is woefully inconsistent. There is a striking similarity between the two staffs. Both take great pride in big, hard throwing sophomores: the Crimson has Ray Peters; the Tigers, Mike Fremuth. In Harvard's case the pride seems justified -- Peters hasn't been scored on yet. Fremuth, however, is struggling with arm troubles and must still prove himself.
The other Princeton pitchers -- Graham Marcott and Steve Cushman have been brilliant at times and awful at times. Cushman threw an eight-strikeout shutout against Maine but was clobbered in his next outing.
