WASHINGTON, March 30--Rebecca S. Vreeland, lecturer on Sociology, told an audience of mental health experts today that Harvard men date to further personal goals in the early college years but date for companionship and to select a mate by their senior year.

Speaking to the American College Health Association, Mrs. Vreeland suggested too that students who date less often than once a month are plagued much more by self-doubt and anxiety than other students.
