To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

I should like to make one correction in the CRIMSON's otherwise careful report of the decision of the Department of Social Relations not to "go it alone" any longer in graduate training leading to the Ph.D. in clinical psychology.

It is not my view, nor that of most of the Senior members, that the clinical degree program need be administered by one of the other Schools at Harvard. I believe the best arrangement would be one in which the degree would be administered, as the Ph.D. in Education is, by a joint committee representing several schools and including the Department of Social Relations. This is important because it means that many of us believe that key parts of clinical psychology training should continue to be in this Department and that instruction in certain clinical areas should remain under the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. David C. McClelland   Chairman, Department of Social Relations
