Young Dems Convene To Take Draft Stand

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Harvard-Radcliffe Young Democrats will attempt to take a policy stand on the draft at a general membership meeting tonight.

Four resolutions -- two drawn up by members of the club's Executive Council and two by other club members -- will be presented to the membership. After a 20 minutes discussion on each proposal -- one supporting a volunteer army, the second a lottery, the third, 2S deferments, and the last, universal service -- the Young Dems will vote.

Possible Amendments

If none of the resolutions receives a clear majority after two ballots, the meeting will adjourn without an official policy. In an effort to avoid such a failure, club officers have decided to permit two amendments from the floor on each resolution. The procedure is intended to render any final resolution amenable to the greatest number of members.
