NBA Players' Strike May Cancel Playoffs

By The ASSOCIATED Press

NEW YORK, March 13--A Strike of the National Basketball Association players appeared imminent tonight as the deadline approached for negotiations with the owners.

NBA Commissioner Walter Kennedy said the playoffs will be cancelled unless the players agree to play by tomorrow noon. A league spokesman said no further negotiations are scheduled.

Len Wilkens, a St. Louis Hawk star said yesterday, "the players are 100 per cent behind the strike threat."

The principle problem lies in the fact that the owners are not willing to meet the players' requests that a 10-year man receive $600 per month after retirement; the owners have offered $500.
