Glimp Expected To Be Chosen Today as Dean

By Robert A. Rafsky

The Board of Overseers meets this morning to name a new dean of the College.

At the meeting -- at 10 a.m. in University Hall -- President Pusey will recommend Fred L. Glimp '50, dean of admissions and financial aids to succeed Dean Monro.

The overseers (30 men elected by Harvard alumni) will also consider a number of professional appointments. But they will probably not name a successor to Glimp as dean of admissions; they are not expected to get a recommendation on that appointment until later this spring.

Monro Leaves July 1

Monro will leave Harvard July 1, after nine years as dean, to become director of freshman studies at predominantly Negro Miles College outside Birmingham, Ala.

Glimp, 41, has been dean of admissions since 1960. He began working in the admissions and financial aid office in 1954, under Monro, and later became director of freshman scholarships.
