The Kennedy Institute of Politics is expanding its undergraduate seminar program this Spring.
The Institute will add two courses to its series of non-credit seminars and will continue several seminars through the Spring, that were supposed to end this Fall.
In one new seminar, 4 or 5 groups of about 15 students each will discuss elective and legislative politics on the state and local level. Each group will have its own leader and will occasionally meet with other groups and guest speakers.
Among the group leaders will be Barney Frank '62, director of the Institute's activities for undergraduates; Christopher Beal '63, graduate student at the Fletcher School of International Law and Diplomacy; and John Steinbrunner, former executive secretary of the Presidential Task Force on Campaign Financing.
A second new seminar will study international law as a factor in the making of foreign policy. Andreas Lowenfeld '51, a fellow of the Institute, will lead it.
The five Fall seminars that will continue to run through the Spring are:
#Selected problems of American Politics, led by Gar Alperovitz, a fellow of the Institute.
#The future of the Republican Party, led by Stephen Horns, former legislative assistant to Sen. Thomas Kuchel (R-Cal.)
#The problems of decision making in international conflicts, led by Roger D. Fisher '42, professor of Law.
#Campaigning, led by H. Douglas Price, associate professor of government.
#Urban problems, led by John G. Wofford '57, a fellow of the Institute.
Sign-up sheets for these seminars are available today in the Houses and at Radcliffe.
