Billionaire Investor Gerald Chan Under Scrutiny for Neglect of Historic Harvard Square Theater
The Harvard squash team swept through its first serious test of the season Saturday, stopping the big guns of Army, 7-2, at West Point.
The racquetmen play at Amherst this afternoon. Varsity coach Jack Barnaby expects that Amherst, with six of nine lettermen returning, will be "a deeper and tougher team than Army."
On Saturday the West Point courts and the military crowd seemed to unnerve Harvard's sharpshooters. Anil Nayar, playing number one, trailed his Army opponent in the first game, 8-5. Larry Terrell, number two, dropped his first game, 15-8. John Whitbeck, number five, was clobbered, 15-2. Bruce Weigand, number seven, and Fernando Gonzalez, number nine, lost 15-12 and 15-11.
Quick Comeback
But the team rebounded quickly. Nayar, showing the spectators his championship form, rallied to stop his Army opponent, 15-9, in the first game and went on to win the match, 3-0. Terrell cleared his sights and won, 3-1. Jose Gonzalez, captain Rick Sterne, Michel Scheinmann and Fritz Hobbs all rolled to easy 3-0 victories.
