McCarthy Opens Presidential Bid

Senator Eugene J. McCarthy (D-Minn.) announced yesterday that he will seek the 1968 Democratic Presidential nomination in at least four presidential primaries. He will run in Wisconsin, Oregon, California, and Nebraska.

McCarthy said he would decide whether to enter the Massachusetts and New Hampshire primaries within the next two weeks.

He declared that the Johnson Administration "seems to have set no limits on the price it will pay for military victory." He went on to say "I am not for peace at any price but for an honorable, rational, and political solution to the war."

Student body presidents and editors from at least 70 campuses around the nation will issue a statement of support Saturday evening for the McCarthy-for President campaign at the Conference of Concerned Democrats in Chicago.
