Baird Is Barred From Law Talk

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Harvard Law School Forum officers said yesterday that birth control advocate William Baird, who had invited himself on Tuesday to serve as fourth panelist of an upcoming Forum program on abortion, would not be permitted to take part in the discussion.

Paul E. Singer 2L, vice-president of the Forum, said that the group had refused Baird's request for "technical" reasons, principally lack of time for pre-program publicity.

Baird, currently awaiting trial before the state Supreme Judicial Court for distributing contraceptives to BU coeds at a lecture, charged that Forum officials were "cowards," and had chosen panelists, such as Alan Guttmacher, president of Planned Parenthood, who wouldn't say anything "frightening."

"I know more than all those blasted clowns put together," Baird said.
