Public image played a crucial role in the Boston mayoralty race this fall, Barney Frank '62, Kevin White's scheduling secretary during the campaign, said last night.
Speaking at a Dunster House Forum, he said White was well-known only in name as secretary of state and was free to create a new public image.
Louise Day Hicks' contradictions and grammatical mistakes helped he image as "the voice of the people," Frank said. He added that Newsweek's article on Mrs. Hicks "was a big plus for her."
Frank will continue to work for White as the executive secretary of his Talent Scout Force.
