The Institute of Politics was conceived to bring the worlds of politics and academia closer together. iWth the John F. Kennedy Memorial Library, it was intended to create a "living memorial" to the late president.
The Institute is now part of Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government and sponsors a variety of activities. Prominent public figures visit the University for several days each year under the "honorary associates" program. Fellows of the Institute, men usually in their late twenties or early thirties and just out of government, spend a year working at Harvard.
