Lacrosse Team Crushed by Yale To End Season

Harvard's Lacrosse team dropped its final game of the season to Yale, 12-3, before a large crowd in the Yale Bowl Saturday.

The loss gave the Crimson stickmen an 0-6 mark in the Ivy League and relegated them to sole possession of the Ivy cellar.

Goalie Ron Wilson held the Bulldogs to only two goals in the first period, but Harvard's attack failed to dent the solid Yale defense.

In the second quarter after the Elis had scooted to a 5-0 lead, Steve Neubert put Harvard on the scoreboard at the 11-minute mark. Ted Leary assisted on the play with a pass from behind the net. But Yale got one more tally in the second period and three in the third to put the game effectively out of Harvard's reach.

In the fourth period on a two-man advantage, Leary set up Marty Cain, who quicksticked in the Crimson's second score.

Keith Hutchinson added Harvard's last goal at the ten-minute mark to delay the traditional appearance of the white handkerchiefs. Leary again got the assist to give him a season total of 34 points and the team's scoring honors.
