Lacrosse Team Needs a Victory Against Williams

The lacrosse team takes a breather from its tough Ivy League schedule when it faces Williams today at Williamstown.

Whether Harvard will be for today's game is the big question. The match is sandwiched in between Saturday's heart-breaking 7-5 loss to Cornell and this weekend's tussle with Princeton.

Williams, the defending New England Lacrosse Champions, is no pushover. Last year it beat all four Ivy teams that it faced, including a 10-8 thrashing of the Crimson.

The graduation of All-America. Mike Annison, however has weakened the Williams club tremendously.

Now the Williams stickmen can be had. They have even been soundly trounced by Rutgers, a team that waited until the last two minutes before beating Harvard, this spring, 8-0.

Coach Bruce Munro is trying hard to break the Crimson's three-game losing streak. He has added two new plays to the team's bulging repertoire. He's had the team practicing a new clear, a play that enables the team to get the ball out of its own defensive zone.

Besides this Munro also added a new ride to the Crimson's defense. This play enables a ball out to stop the opposing team from clearing the ball out of the defensive zone--sort of an anti-clear.

The two new plays coupled with an entire healthy lineup make Harvard a good bet on paper today, but hunch-players might do well to bet the home team.
