Penn lifted itself out of last place in the Ivy League lacrosse standings by clobbering Harvard 13-3 in Philadelphia Saturday.
A rash of penalties killed the Crimson's chances. The Quakers tallied seven of their 13 goals while Harvard was a man short, six of these coming in the first half.
Actually, Harvard was out of contention after the first five minutes. After Crimson midfielder Larry Palmer tied the score 1-1 at the four minute mark of the first period, Penn exploded. By the time the dust cleared at halftime, the Quakers had an 8-2 lead.
Saturday was an inordinately bad day for the Harvard defense, but unless the offense improves markedly, the Crimson may not win an Ivy game all spring. The team's best chance for an Ivy League win
