Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
Brian L. Foley '69, Harvard's 6-4 would-be singing star, appeared on the Merv Griffin Show last Tuesday evening and sang one of his own songs. "Time and Tide." Foley had been invited to make six more performances on the show.
Foley has a two-year contract to write music for Mills Inc., who have published his recently released song "Hello and Goodbye" appearing on the Dot label. Two other Foley originals, "I'll Go My Way" and "Suddenly I'm Warm" are soon to be published.
Dacapa Productions Inc. is contracted to produce all of his recordings and act as his personal manager.
Although at present Foley sings ballads and accompanies himself on the guitar, his manager plans to turn him into a "stand up singer" which simply means that he will be backed up by a group instead of making his own sounds.
Foley said yesterday that he started writing music because "I like to sing and I can make the songs tailor-fit to my voice."
Speaking of future plans, Foley said that he and his managers agree that he should finish Harvard: he is convinced that his recordings will not interfere with his studies.
After that? "I'm interested in a career writing and singing for Broadway musicals," Foley said.
