Exam-period strain and lack of pracice caught up with the hockey team Saturday, and Princeton beat Harvard for the first time in 13 years. Blowing an early lead, the Crimson lost, 6-3, at Baker Rink.

Jack Garrity and Bob Clark scored Harvard's early goals, the second coming with Princeton a man down. After Steve Cook beat Harvard goalie Bill Fitzsimmons at 8:45, the Crimson added another score -- an unassisted effort by Kevin Burke.

Harvard was through for the day. Playing with only three days of practice against a team that was already back in the academic grind. Cooney Weiland's six couldn't maintain the pace.

Terry Peterman netted two Tiger goals, and Cook added his second as the Tigers pulled away.

Graeme Flanders stopped 26 shots for the victors, and Fitzsimmons registered 24 saves. Cook had two assists to go with his pair of goals.

Coach Weiland called a special Sunday practice to try to whip the squad into shape for tonight's Bear Pot in Boston Garden. Harvard meets Northeastern at 7 p.m., and Boston University faces off against arch-rival Boston College in the nighteap. The B.U. Terriers, 17.4 overall and 13-1 in Eastern play, are favored to win the 14th annual Bean Pot., The return of All-Americans Jack Ferreira and Tommy Ross should build up their attack.

Jimmy Bell's Northeastern squad will make life tough for Harvard tonight, and the Crimson will need a snappy performance to reach the Pot finals next Monday. Northeastern has never won the Tournament, while Harvard has taken the title four times.
