Dudley House's new home in renovated Lehman Hall will open its doors Feb. 6 with an official dedication by President Pusey.
But at least one door in Lehman won't open to everyone. Thomas R. Crooks '49, Master of Dudley House, said yesterday that Cliffies will have their own lounge in Lehman that will be off-limits to Harvard students.
Crooks also said that upperclassmen and Cliffies will be able to eat lunch in Lehman on interhouse on a limited, first-come, first-served basis. A schedule is now being worked out to serve coffee and light snacks in the evening.
Freshmen, however, will not be permitted to eat at Lehman. Crooks emphasized that Lehman, being a part of Dudley House, will exist only to serve upperclassmen.
Student Union
Because Lehman Hall will open to non-Dudley House students and Cliffies, Crooks said that it may end up becoming a sort of "student union" for the University.
"I don't know what's going to happen," he said, "but I must admit that I don't at all mind the idea of eating lunch with all those pretty girls."
Lehman will house facilities for extension students, as well as Dudley House and the Radcliffe lounge.
Closed to Males
The lounge for the Cliffies will be located in the basement, and unless Radcliffe requests otherwise, will be closed to males. The basement also houses the kitchen facilities.
The main dining room is on the first floor. Anyone entering the building at this point will have to present identification to a checker at the door. The extension library is on the second floor, and Dudley House common rooms on the third floor.
