The Harvard-Radcliffe chapter of Students for a Democratic Society may not be finished fighting with the Secretary of Defense.
SDS will probably renew its demand that Robert S. McNamara engage in a debate at Harvard over the war in Vietnam. The executive committee of SDS officially approved the move at a meeting yesterday morning, and a general membership meeting will be held tomorrow evening to vote on the matter.
Still unresolved is how the new challenge would be issued. Eric Lessinger '68, a spokesman for SDS, said yesterday that a telegram could be sent directly to McNamara, or the Kennedy Institute of Politics -- sponsor of McNamara's visit last week--might be asked to arrange the debate.
SDS held a press conference Saturday afternoon to explain last Monday's demonstration against McNamara. At the press conference, Michael S. Ansara '68, temporary chairman of SDS, said that SDS would consent to a time and format agreeable to McNamara.
Ansara emphasized that SDS's invitation was meant seriously, even though other SDS members present at the press conference doubted that McNamara would accept.
