Crimson Teams Lead Ivy, Nation

Harvard's 2-1 victory in soccer over Dartmouth Friday rocketed the Crimson into a first place tie with undefeated Brown.

The Bruins, who led by half a game last week, played outside the league, defeating Army, 2-0.

In the Ivy games last Saturday, Penn eked out a 2-1 victory over Princeton in double overtime, with Roger Lorberbaum scoring the winning goal. Yale escaped from the cellar by registering its first victory over still winless Cornell, 2-1. In another non-league game, Columbia tied Rutgers 1-1.

This Saturday there is a full Ivy slate, with Princeton at Brown, Cornell at Columbia, Yale at Dartmouth and Penn at Harvard.

Tops in Nation

Harvard's undefeated football team continued to lead the nation in rushing yardage after Saturday's win over Dartmouth. Although the Crimson's 293 yards rushing was well below its average of 325, it was sufficient to keep Harvard 68 yards ahead of second place Dartmouth.

In total offense, Harvard ranked third behind Notre Dame and Louisville. The Associated Press poll unanimously placed Harvard at the top of the New England ratings, ahead of Dartmouth and third place Holy Cross.
