Don K. Price Jr., dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration, has been named President-Elect of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the largest scientific organization in the country.
Price is the second social scientist to head the group in the last quarter-century. He will assume office on January 15, and become president of the group in 1967.
In an interview last night, he said he hoped his presidency of the AAAS would provide an opportunity "in a time of increasing specialization, to join social and natural scientists, to pull science back together."
For many years Price and several natural and social scientists have conducted a seminar on Science and Public Policy at the School of Public Administration. Price's most recent book, The Scientific Estate, deals with science and the making of public policy. He is also a member of the faculty committee for the Harvard Program in Technology and Society.
