Melville C. Whipple Is Dead

Melville C. Whipple, associate professor of Sanitary Chemistry, emeritus, died January 14 of a prolonged illness. he was 32.

Professor Whipple, a member of the Harvard Faculty for 33 years before retiring in 1949, pioneered the testing of water for palatability and safety.

Funeral services were held Monday in Andover
