Fencers Down Trinity 19-8, for Seventh Win

Harvard's varsity fencers toppled Trinity yesterday 19-8, for their seventh win of the season.

After Trinity Rick Kusher beat junior Dan Isaacson, 5-4, in the first foil bout, Harvard romped through eight straight matches to take foil, 8 to 1, while allowing only 12 touches Isaacson won his other bout, 5 to 2, against Chris Klemm. Crimson captain Rick Kolombatovich allowed a total of three touches while winning three bouts.

Trinity'a highly-touted sabre team edged Harvard, 5 to 4, but four of the Crimson losers were second-stringers. Harvard's Al Makaitis downed Colin Kaufman, 5 to 0. Trinty's Emil Angelica won three bouts.

Steve Shea led the Harvard epee team to a 7-2 victory, taking three bouts while allowing only five touches. Harry Jergesen clipped Trinity's Ken Button, 5 to 4, and Wilson Kury, 5 to 3. Crimson junior Takashi Iwasawa lost to Button, 5 to 2, but beat Pete Makson by the same score.

Harvard's record is now 7-2, with one loss to Columbia is Ivy League competition.
