Netmen Should Subdue Hapless Cornell Today

Harvard's varsity tennis team opens a two-day home stand today at 2 p.m. against Cornell.

Cornell has only one returning letterman--number one player John Galinato--from the team which lost to Harvard 7-2 last year. Galinato then defeated Crimson star Frank Ripley for one of the two Big Red Victories.

Harvard should have little trouble winning its eighth straight today by a healthy score. The varsity defeated Dartmouth 8-1, and the Green whipped Cornell 7-2. Comparative scores are not always reliable, but in this case they're probably pretty revealing.

The Crimson netmen will have more of a problem with Army Friday at 3 p.m., but will probably pull through because of superior depth.

Army's top two players, Walt Oehrlein and Paul Kantrowich, have to be rated even to Harvard's best. Captain Oehrlein, a fast scrappy player, was runner-up in the ECAC last June.

Chum Steels and Dave Benjamin, numbers one and two for Harvard, have been playing occasionally brilliant tennis in the last week. Benjamin, was hitting his ground strokes with extreme accuracy against Princeton last Saturday; Steele put tremendous pressure on Dartmouth's strong Charlie Hoevler Wednesday and rallied to down him in three sets.

Will Need Top Form

Against Army, Steele and Benjamin both will have to be at top form to win. Harvard's next four players, Clive Kileff, Dean Peckham, Richie Friedman, and Brian Davis, should give Harvard the
