Harvard Golfers Down Dartmouth

Led by red-hot Jim Buchanan, the Harvard golf team edges Dartmouth 4 to 3 yesterday in a match at the Myopia Hunt Club.

Buchanan, who was low medalist in last week's Eastern Championships at Yale, trimmed Dave Potthoff, the Indians' number one man, 4 and 2, Buchanan finished with an ever par 72 over the hilly Myopia course.

In the number two slot, Harvard Captain Fairway Campen dropped the first five holes to the Indians' F. Scott Carlson, and lost 6 and 5. But Crimson number three man Brain McGuinn, en route to a 74, ruined George Garemella of Dartmouth 7 and 5.

The Crimson's Mike Millis, playing number four, lost to Dave Goldstein of Dartmouth 3 and 1, Steve Bergman of Harvard topped the Green's Bill Cass 3 and 2 in the number five position.

Harvard's number six man, John Hawkins, disposed of the Indians' Jim Ferraro 4 and 3, and at number seven. Alvin Everett of Dartmouth beat the Crimson's Wayne Thornborough 2 and 1.

If Harvard defeats Princeton on Saturday, the team will finish the season with a 10-3 record, the best in the history of Harvard golf.
