Two to Compete In Ski Nationals

Jon Chaffee and Steve Blodgett will in the National Collegiate ski championships which began yesterday Crystal, Washington, and will continue through tomorrow. The entire Harvard team qualified for the Nationals by placing fifth in the Eastern meet at Middlebury, but is unable to attend en masse be of a lack of funds. Chaffee and Blodgett have been sent as special competitors.

Chaffee has consistently placed among the top three runners in Eastern collegiate cross country races this season. He usually places second behind Steve Rikert of Williams and qualified as a special competitor in the Nationals by placing third in the Eastern meet.

Blodgett, an Alpine sklier, won the Fiske Trophy Race in February, and has placed among the top ten during most of the racing season. He qualified for the Nationals by placing fourth in the Alpine combined at the Easterns.
