Wilbur K. Jordan has been named Leroy B. Williams Professor of History and Political Science, it was announced yesterday. Jordan, who was president of Radcliffe from 1943 to 1960, is an expert in the Tudor-Stuart period of English history. He replaces William Y. Elliot who left Harvard in 1963 to join the faculty of American University.
The co-operative residence halls at Radcliffe, opened in 1959, are named in Professor Jordan's honor. Before coming to Harvard Jordan taught at the University of Missouri, Scripps College, and the University of Chicago. He received his B.A. degree from Oakland City College, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard.
