Leverett Matmen Gain Intramural Wrestling Crown

Leverett House scored victories in the final two matches of the day to win the intramural wrestling tournament yesterday.

In the 185-pound division, Leverett's Charles Geer defeated John Sinnott of Quincy, and in the unlimited category Tom Weber of Leverett defeated teammate Chris Nowlis. The wins gave the Bunny matmen a total of 21 points for the tournament, followed by Quincy (16), Eliot (13), Lowell (11), Kirkland (8), and Dunster (3).

Quincy had built up an early lead when Dave O'Brasky and Doug Eiler won the 125- and 165-pound matches. Other winners were Jon Dunn (Lowell), 135 pounds; Bill White (Kirkland), 145; John Berman (Leverett), 150; and Ormond Hammond (Eliot), 175.

Matthews South made a runaway of the freshman tournament, scoring 23 points. Their nearest rivals, Pennypacker and Holworthy, had 11 points apiece.
