Well now, that makes it about 39. Yes, Harvard's squash team won another one yesterday--this time over Williams, 9-0.
A few of the top Crimson players, stale from the long weekend at Princeton and Penn, had trouble starting, but once they got moving, well...
In the number one match, Harvard's Romer Holleran dropped a somewhat slow first game, and then showed Williams' Mike Annison a thing or two about control squash. Holleran swept the next three games, 15-10, 15-12, 15-10.
Williams' Pete Allen hustled to a 2-1 game lead over number two man Al Terrell, who managed to pull out an 18-14 win in the fifth game.
Dependable Terry Robinson (number three), fresh from an impressive 3-0 win at Princeton, suffered no letdown. With his usual finesse, Robinson trounced Bill Ewen, 15-6, 17-16, 15-7.
Flashy Dinny Adams (four), who polished off Princeton's highly-touted John Frazier with amazing ease, had trouble concentrating at times today, but nevertheless won, 12-15, 15-4, 18-14, 15-11. Harvard's Bill Morris (five), having similar difficulties in the opening game, blasted opponent Steve Orr, 10-15, 15-3, 15-8, 15-8.
The bottom half of Harvard's team was too strong for Williams. Dave Benjamin, fodd Wilkinson, Steve Simpson, and Craig Stapleton each won in straight games.
For Harvard, it was the ninth victory of the season, and only Yale stands in the way of a fourth consecutive undefeated team.
The freshman squash team defeated Williams, 8-1. Crimson number one player Rick Sterne whalloped Will MacMillon, 15-6, 15-5, 15-5.
Corey Wynn's racketmen have lost only five individual matches in the nine team outings. The top four players, Sterne, Jose Gonzales, Gordon Black, and John Whitbeck are all undefeated.
