With the toughest stretch of the Ivy League campaign behind it, the Harvard wrestling team foresakes league competition temporarily to take on Springfield at 8 p.m. tonight in the IAB.
Only Yale, Brown, and Princeton, the three weakest of Harvard's half-dozen Ivy opponents, remain on the schedule after Springfield. Should Harvard beat the Maroons, it may very well end the season with four straight wins.
"They're one of the best teams we hit," Harvard Coach Bob Pickett said of Springfield. "We're as good as they are, but we've got to want it bad enough."
Springfield, with a record of five wins and two losses, has had three opponents in common with the Crimson. Cornell, which beat Harvard 21-11, edged Springfield 16-15, and Franklin and Marshall, a 15-14 victor over Harvard, was crushed by the Maroons 20-5. Both Harvard and Springfield beat M.I.T. badly.
