NEW LONDON, Conn.--Harvard's wrestling team was second only to national power Oklahoma State at the end of the quarter-final round of the Coast Guard Invitational wrestling Tournament. Three Harvard wrestlers were still in contention for individual titles.

Going into the semi-finals, Harvard had 20 points to Oklahoma State's 28. The Coast Guard Academy was tied with the Crimson at 20, followed by Army with 18.

Captain Tom Gilmore (137) led Harvard with a first-period pin and two strong decisions. In the quarter-finals, he defeated Jeff Harben of the Coast Guard, 8 to 5.

Ed Franquemont (152) had three easy decisions. His last was a 15-3 thumping of Roger Locks of Fairleigh Dickinson.

Sophomore Paul Padlak (160) was the third Harvard survivor. He took three decisions, the third a 4-0 win over Bill Clark of Wesleyan.

Chris Wickens (167), Jeff Grant (177), and Tack Chase (Unl.) made it through the preliminaries but were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
