Technicians Get Bravery Medals

Two Harvard employees have been cited by the Carnegie Hero Fund for bravery during the Cambridge Electon Accelerator explosion and fire last July 5.

Frederick E. Gale, a cold temperature physics technician, received a silver medal and $1000 from the Pittsburgh organization for rescuing several co-workers from the blast. Kenneth M. George, also a technician, was awarded a bronze medal and $550 for his help in saving one man and searching for others.

An M.I.T. research technician was killed and six other men hospitalized as a result of the million dollar catastrophic Gale, and George, who were not injured by the blast, are now helping to rebuild the CEA.
