M2M Official Denies Dodd's Charge Of Training Guerillas for Viet Cong

By Nancy H. Davis

Jeffrey Gordon, national coordinator of the May Second Movement, yesterday denied that M2M is training volunteers to fight with the rebel forces in Vietnam. "Americans have to stay here to fight our Government," he said in a telephone interview from New York.

An aide of Senator Thomas J. Dodd (D-Conn.) said Sunday that Dodd has asked attorneys of the Senate Security subcommittee, of which he is vice-chairman, to determine the legality of such actions on the part of M2M.

"The Johnson administration are the guys that should be prosecuted," Gordon retorted. He said that recent attacks on protest groups have shown "how thin democracy in the United States is."

Members of the Harvard chapter of M2M pointed out that each chapter makes its own policy decisions. The Harvard chapter has not even discussed training guerillas and has no policy on sounding aid to the Vienamese, they claimed.

A committee of United States doctors may also be set up, Gordon said, to decide what other aid might help war casualities.

The report that M2M was training guerillas to fight for the Viet Cong, Gordon explained, probably came from an article printed recently in the New York Daily News. The article said that SDS has started such a program in Michigan and was being advised by M2M. Gordon said that the Daily News story was false.
