Robert Lowell '39, visiting professor of English, will read from his poetry at 8:45 p.m. tonight in Sanders Theater. The reading, for the benefit of Massachusetts Political Action for Peace, will include several unpublished works.
The Pulitzer prize-winning poet is expected to explain his refusal to attend the White House Arts Festival and to express his views on the Vietnam crisis. This will be Lowell's first public statement since his open letter to President Johnson last June.
Lowell's public works include Lord Weary's Castle, and most recently his play trilogy, The Old Glory, William Alfred, professor of English, will introduce Lowell.
