Students Review Senior Generals

The content of the General Examinations in Social Studies will be changed this spring if the proposals of a student advisory committee are accepted by the department.

The students expressed their discontent with the present generals at the beginning of the year. Since then, over half of the 20 senior concentrators have met twice to consider the changes they favor. Next week, they will present their suggestions and a sample exam for the department's consideration.

Richard M. Hunt, head tutor in Social Studies, conceded that "the generals may be changed," though he said the basic format of oral and written exams will remain the same. "The Committee on Social Studies is open-minded and will lend a favorable car to any reasonable proposal," he said.

"I am sure the generals will be very different this year," said Lois J. Schiffer '66, spokesman for the seniors. She commented that the committee would like to see less rehashing of Social Studies 10 and 98, the sophomore and junior tutorials, on the generals.
