Ambitious Brown Runners May Push Crimson Today

Some young runners from Brown come to Franklin Park at 3:30 p.m. this afternoon with hopes of repeating last year's upset win over the Crimson cross-country team.

Walt Hewlett, Dave Allen, and their sophomore buddies should see to it that they don't. But it will be a close one, the third in a row for the Harvard squad, now 1-1.

Bill Kinsella is the Bruin captain and the only one of Brown's top five to run varsity cross-country last year. Against the Crimson, he finished third, behind Hewlett and Allen.

After Kinsella come the sophomores, the heart of last year's Baby Bruin outfit that matched the varsity's one point decision over its Crimson counterparts.

Chip Ennis and Jim Wich, second and third behind Kinsella in last week's slaughter of Yale, appear to be the best of the lot. Harvard's Bob Stempson and Joe Ryan may pair up with these two, and, if they do, it will be an exciting duel.

Behind the Bruin pair come sophomore teammates Bob Busick and John Cobourn. They will be the problem of Dick Howe and Jim Baker.

The Crimson rates the edge because Baker has recovered well from a cold that slowed him considerably against Northeastern last week. Then there's always the hope that Walt Hewlett, one of these days, will return to his old, invincible self.

The freshman race is scheduled for 3 p.m.
