Freshman Booters Subdue Exeter, Remain Undefeated

A fired-up Exeter soccer squad contained Harvard's freshman booters for the first fourteen minutes yesterday, but then the Crimson caught fire themselves and ran away with a 6-1 victory.

Exeter's hopes ballooned in the first period as they scored the first goal of the game on a penalty shot against the previously unscored-upon Yardlings. But Harvard's center forward Jim Vargas came back quickly with the first of his three goals to cool the Exonians enthusiasm.

Inside left forward Scott Robertson, elected Harvard team captain just before the game, scored two goals in the second period. Vargas tallied two more it, the third. Steve Wimberly popped in the last goal in the fourth period when Exeter goalie dropped an easy penalty shot by Jim Vargas.

The Freshman squad boasts a 4-0 record and has outscored its opponents 18-1.

JV Soccer

In other soccer action yesterday, the JV's dumped inexperienced Stevens Junior College 12-0.

Sophomore Robin Hahnel kicked three goals and Haven Pell scored two in the lopsided victory. Coach Seamus Malin said after the match that the Crimson halfbacks were especially effective in controlling the middle of the field.
