Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Depending on the weather, Harvard is either going to beat Dartmouth or clobber Dartmouth this afternoon. On a fast track, we think the Crimson should win by about 24-14. The Indians are very much overrated and have not faced a good team yet. They won't be able to stop Harvard's ground game as Cornell did last week, and some of the surprises John Yovicsin is planning to unveil should enable the Crimson's offense to click well. If it rains, Harvard should romp. The Green's passing attack will not function well, and their propensity for fumbling should present the Crimson with a couple of gift touchdowns: Harvard 21 Dartmouth 0.
The rest of the contests around the Ivy League are relatively uninteresting, and should provide no surprises. Here are our predictions:
Princeton 37 Penn 7
The Tigers continue to roll to the Ivy championship. A week ago, this might have been an interesting game. But against Bucknell last Saturday Penn's star back Bruce Molloy was injured, and will be out for the season. That ruined Penn, for Molloy was their All-Everything; best runner, best kicker, best passer, best pass receiver on the team.
Even with Molloy, Penn would have had a rough afternoon. No one has come close to the Tigers all year. Their 27-0 win last week over previously unscored-upon Colgate indicated clearly that Princeton is just as good as it was last year.
Cornell 17 Yale 0
This is the best bet of the week. Oddsmakers have made the Big Red a mere six-point favorite over the hapless Elis; this contest won't be close at all. Yale has shown no semblance of an offense all season long, and Cornell's rugged defensive line should shut them out with no difficulty. If quarterback Marty Sponaugle is still not healthy, Cornell may have some difficulty moving the ball. Although Yale's defense is reasonably good, however, they will probably not be able to stop the running of Pete Larson, who has a 6.0 yard rushing average in League competition this fall.
Colgate 10 Brown 0
Brown's Bob Hall has some impressive statistics to his credit. In three Ivy games, he had completed 52 of 87 passes. Despite his aerial proficiency, Brown is winless this year -- and has been having trouble scoring. This pattern will continue today. Colgate has an outstanding defense, and unless Hall gets lucky, Brown won't get on the scoreboard today. Colgate has difficulty moving the ball, too; they tied Cornell, 0-0; beat Holy Cross, 7-3; and beat Yale 7-0 before getting bashed by Princeton last week. However Brown's defense is nothing too spectacular, and they should suffer at least one lapse and let the Red Raiders score.
Rutgers 14 Columbia 7
Rutgers gets some relief from its rough schedule this afternoon and should handle the Lions with moderate ease. Last week the Scarlet Knights lost to Army only 23-6. Columbia's offense, with Rick Ballentine at quarterback and three non-entities in the backfield, won't have much success today.
RECORD TO DATE: Eighteen right, three wrong, two ties.
LAST WEEK'S RECORD: Three right, one wrong, one tie.
