Crimson Fencers Wallop Brandeis

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Crimson fencers achieved their seventh victory of the season last night, as a field of substitutes and new recruits to epee defeated Brandeis, 17-10, for the second time this season.

Brandeis left the meet in a huff, complaining that the team will never fence Harvard again unless a satisfactory "director" is engaged. Last night's director (the man responsible for calling the action in sabre matches) aroused the violent dissatisfaction of both teams with questionable calls.

Dave Redmond, fencing second in sabre, was the only Harvard man to win all three of his matches, one of them by a shutout. The newly-constituted epee team of Rich Kolombatovich, Paul Mundie, and Brian Keiden each won two of three matches to aid in the victory. Coach Edo Marion will be counting on the epee fencers, recruited from a deep foil roster, to perform well in Saturday's tough contest against Columbia.

This evening at 7 p.m. in the IAB the varsity team will play host to a number of fencing team alumni and guests, including Olympic fencers Ed Richards and Al Morales and last year's number one sabre man here, Paul Zygas.
