The freshman ski team placed second to Andover in its first meet of the season Wednesday. Because the unusually warm weather had made practice impossible, Coach Richard Friedman had never even seen five of his seven entries ski before.
The artificial snow in Brookline, N.H., was insufficient for the jumping events. In the slalom John Hardcastle took the individual title for the freshmen, but the squad finished second to an Andover team that Friedman claims is "rated as one of the better prep school teams in the East this year."
Walter Klemperer, Ben Barnes, and Martin Zeller also placed for Harvard to enable the team to defeat both the University of New Hampshire freshmen and the St. Paul School varsity.
