$28,500 DuPont Grant Aids Harvard Science

Harvard has received a total of $28,500 in separate research and teaching grants announced today by E. I. DuPont & Company.

The largest sum, $15,000, went to the Chemistry Department for aid in basic research. A $1200 fellowship for a graduate teaching assistant will be accompanied by an additional $500 grant to the Department.

The other grants include $5000 for the University to use in strengthening undergraduate science courses. Another $5000 went to the Physics Department for basic research. The Medical School received $3000 for the teaching of biochemistry.

The grants were part of more than $1.3 million awarded to 167 colleges and universities as part of DuPont's annual program of aid to scientific education and research.
