The Friends of Harvard Rowing announced yesterday that they will lend their support to sending the undefeated Crimson JV heavyweight crew to Henley on Thames in July in quest of the Grand Challenge Cup.
All that is now required to make the trip official is a formal vote by the Faculty Committee on Athletic Sports, expected before the end of the week.
On hand to watch the sophomore-studded JV team at Henley will be the Harvard JV crew of 1914, the first American crew ever to win the Grand Challenge Cup.
This year's JV's include Charles Welch, stroke, Brian Clemow (7), Rob Gardiner (6), Alex Whiteside (5), Bob Abrams (4), Ed Quattlebaum (3), Eric Friberg (2), Steve Samborski bow, and John Ukovic, cox.
