Radcliffe's "Fast for Freedom" last Thursday raised $338 for donation to the student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee Beverly Winikoff '66 RGA treasurer, reported yesterday.
Over 620 students abstained from dinner while non-fasters ate box-suppers in the dormitory living rooms. Debate about the manner in which the demonstration was organized continued until the last moment, with one faster withdrawing on reasons of principle at 6:15 p.m. Thursday.
Those who objected to the organization of the fast criticized the public posting of lists of those participating, as well as the decision to provide a box-supper rather than an ordinary meal for girls not fasting.
