Experienced computer programmers in the University may be able to find part-time work in the fall, if Student Employment Office plans to establish a placement service materialize.
Nothing is definite yet, but James W. Wiley '65, who is now on leave of absence, is doing research for the Office on the supply of experienced computer programmers at Harvard and the demand for them in the Boston area. Two dozen programmers have already submitted resumes.
There are hundreds of students at Harvard, Wiley said, who have learned to program in Engineering Sciences 10 or 110, in the Student Employment Office seminar on FORTRAN programming, or elsewhere.
