In a match marked with rough tackles and even rougher loose scrums, the Rugby Club fought out an 11-11 tie with the New York Rugby Club Saturday.
The ruggers took the lead in the opening minutes of the game when wing forward Quentin Spector plunged over from 15 yards out, and fullback Buss Baker kicked the conversion. Wing Gage McAfee scored next for the Club, taking the ball from a perfect back movement and sprinting past the New York backs to make the halftime score 2-3.
Harvard managed to tally only once in the second half. Hooker Sandy Whitman caught a punt on the goal line and touched the ball down. The Club lost the second game, 9-3.
