Radcliffe May Change Dining Rules

'Cliffies in off-campus houses will probably soon have a choice of eating either lunch or dinner in the dormitories, instead of being limited to dinner, as presently required.

Under the proposed change, off-campus students might be given seven meal tickets which could be used at any time during the week. The tickets would prevent students from cheating by eating more than the seven meals for which they pay. The details have not yet been worked out, however.

A six-member committee was appointed at yesterday's RGA meeting to study the possibility and to recommend the mechanics of such a change.

Would increase Student Contact

Linda A. Thimann '65, who introduced the idea, said that the new flexibility would encourage girls to eat in the dorms and would thus increase contact between off-campus students and dormitory inhabitants.

Two potential obstacles--the kitchen and the college administartion--most be conquered before the proposal becomes a reality, but neither appears threatening.

The proposed change would make it more difficult for kitchen officials to predict the number of eaters at each meal. However, Marjorie L. Russ, Radcliffe dietitian, said yesterday that the problem could be solved.

Although theoretically RGA can only recommend the innovation to the administration, President Bunting said yesterday that a request would almost certainly be approved.
