Kolb Will Captain Fencing

Jonathan E. Kolb '64-5 of Winthrop House and Providence, R.I., has been elected captain of next year's fencing team.

A sabre fencer, Kolb finished his first season of varsity competition with a 19-11 overall record and a 10-2 Ivy mark. He fenced in all the squad's league matches except the one with Columbia.

Kolb is a left-handed fencer, the only one on the Crimson team. Being left-hander is considered a decided advantage in competition.

Kolb's team next year will include several of this season's outstanding fencers. Bill Neaves, a Harvard representative in the NCAA tournament, will lead the returning epee squad.

Experienced Men

Dave Dooley and Rich Kolombatavitch will fence foil. The sabre group includes three experienced men other than Kolb.

But a number of this year's best fencers are graduating; Dan Kirsch and Paul Zygas, both stars in the Nationals, are seniors.

Therefore, the Crimson will have to rely heavily on such promising fencers from this year's freshman team as Bob Damus, Tom Musliner, David Redmond, and Alex Kraszeski.
