Howle Henjyoji took a third place and Phil Emmi a fourth in the East Coast Freshman Wrestling Tournament last weekend.
Henjyoji, the Crimson's regular 123-pound wrestler, sweated off four pounds on the day before the tournament to enter the 115-pound class. He won one match by an 8-0 decision before losing to Lehigh's John Dietz in the quarterfinals.
But in the consolation matches, Henjyoji scored a pin in 1:08, and won a 7-2 decision to take third place.
After winning a match on Friday, Emmi (137) spent most of Saturday on the wrestling mat. He lost an overtime decision 10-6 in the morning, won his first consolation bout, again in overtime, but a 3-1 score, and finally, after 30 minutes of wrestling in one day, lost his consolation final on a 3-1 decision.
Three other Crimson wrestlers entered the tournament but called to place. Captain Ed Franquemont won two close decisions in the preliminaries of the 157-pound class, but was pinned by a Lehigh wrestler in the semifinals.
In a consolation match, Franquemont lost a 2-0 decision to an Army wrestler who had been top-seeded in the weight class.
The other two Crimson freshmen entered, Tom Weber (177) and John Munger (123), lost preliminary bouts in the tournament, which brought together most of the top freshman wrestlers in the East.
Nick Spitzer was captain of this winter's varsity squad, which posted a 9-5 record.
