U.C.L.A. Stops Duke To Win NCAA Title

Unbeaten U.C.L.A., outhustled, outscored, and, amazingly outrebounded a taller Duke squad to win the NCAA basketball tournament 98-83 Saturday night.

The Bruins, trailing by three point midway through the first half, broke the game open with a 16-point scoring burst and held a 50-38 lead at halftime. Duke never came within 10 points during the second half.

Gail Goodrich, with 27 points, and Kenny Washington with 26, led U.C.L.A.
