Fencers Ninth

One Crimson swordsman sprained his ankle in this weekend's Intercollegiate Fencing Association's matches at Navy and the rest of the team fenced as if they were incapacitated too.

Harvard limped to a ninth-place standing among the twelve competing teams, as not one of the Crimson fencers qualified for the individual championship rounds.

Traditionally a strong team, Navy swept the three-weapon crown. Columbia, who won the crown last year, took second place and N.Y.U. third.

Coach Edo Marion attributed the Crimson's defeat to its usual "lack of enthusiasm." "Even though we were fencing against the best teams in the country, we could have done better than ninth place," he added.
